As CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Marshall Street Capital, Michael Montgomery is responsible for the organization’s comprehensive investment strategy – spanning broad, diversified assets – to position the enterprise for long-term growth and value enhancement. Montgomery also oversees the operations of Claridges Trust Company and family office services provided by Marshall Street Capital which include financial planning, tax and estate planning, philanthropy, financial reporting and risk management. His primary leadership responsibilities also include setting the strategic vision for the family office and private trust company, developing innovative solutions to preserve and grow family enterprise wealth, and ensuring all clients receive a seamless delivery of integrated services.
Montgomery was previously the President and CEO for the Detroit-based Ford family’s private wealth management office. He led both Ford Estates, LLC, the family’s wealth management and lifestyle services organization, and Brush Street Investments, LLC, the family’s private investment unit. Michael launched the family’s investment arm in Dallas, Texas, shortly after taking the helm in 2016, creating a centralized and scalable platform for managing the family’s investment capital across all asset classes.
With over 30 years of diverse wealth management experience, his advisory repertoire includes investment strategy, tax and wealth transfer planning, corporate transaction execution, financial service operations and business strategy. He has held several progressive leadership roles within the wealth management division of the Bank of Montreal (BMO), Northern Trust and Tolleson Wealth Management, a leading wealth management firm, multifamily office, private bank and trust company based in Dallas, Texas.
Montgomery earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business, graduating with honors. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Texas A&M University, graduating with high distinction. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a CFP® certificant and a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS). He is also an advisory board member for Columbia University’s Master of Professional Studies in Wealth Management.
